Designer Sarah Graham has a lot in common with 19th century Americans who headed west in search of finding a life or career where they could make their mark.

Originally, the San Francisco-based Jewelry Designer seemed to be following in her family's business-minded footsteps. Her father is a CPA and her sister a successful restaurateur. Sarah even earned a bachelor's degree in international business, fully intending to pursue a business career.

Graham draws on natures elements to bring her product lines to life. Graham's signature style combines 18k gold and blackened steel; black, white, and cognac diamonds. The end result is a dazzling and provocative elegance that puts her work in high demand and at the forefront of the media. Graham carefully chooses feminine yet bold pieces that are universally appealing to a wide array of cultures and influences.

Her painstaking detail of old-world craftsmanship began as an unpaid apprentice for two years in Carmel, California and then as a bench jeweler for six years. A signature look from Sarah, the Pebble collection is inspired by the natural shapes found in stones tossed among the currents of a river. Once jagged edges of rocks now have been smoothed and gently shaped and tumbled into softened yet irregular forms.

 

Clover Collection  :

A four leaf clover shape in one of the custom-made drawplates her workshop uses to pull handmade wire through to twist into chain, inspired what has become one of her best known collections: Clover.

Flowering Coral Collection:

The Flowering Coral collection is based on one of the thousands of corals illustrated by Ernst Haeckel, the preeminent German biologist, zoologist, naturalist, philosopher, physician and artist who discovered and described thousands of new species in the 19th century.

When Michele Sonner, the artist behind Michou, planned her first trip to Bali, where her intricate, Handmade Jewelry is created, she actually had to pull out an atlas to find exactly where the island is situated.

While Bali is the original source of inspiration for her collections, Michele's travels have inspired collections as well as her own homestead, which she shares with her husband and son, near Lake Tahoe, California

Although an expert in art, Michele Sonner, Michou's founder and designer, had never actually made her own jewelry.

Inspired by what she encountered on her first trip to Bali, Michele did her own research and experimenting to achieve her distinctive look: a combination of centuries-old goldsmithing techniques used and a modern aesthetic that made the jewelry suitable for everyday use.

The deep rich midnight sky inspired her Constellation collection which features blue rainbow moonstone backed with a black lacquer that gives an other worldly iridescence to the gem. Chrysalis : 

Originally Michou's designer Michele Sonner called this collection "'emergence'--because the pearl was emerging through a crack in the sphere shape like a flower coming up in the garden after a long winter." The silver has Michou's own distinctive finish called Pearlessent, a hand finished texture that mimics the way mother of pearl reflects light.
